Hey everyone, hope you are having an amazing day today. Today, I’m gonna show you how to make a special dish, chili. It is one of my favorites. This time, I am going to make it a little bit unique. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

This is the chili recipe the gang eats at Purdue Boilermaker football games. I always prep and cook the chili the night before and then reheat the next day. This is a combination of many different tomato-based chili recipes. Place the ground beef in a large pot and throw in the garlic.

The ingredients needed to make Chili:
  1. Prepare 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  2. Make ready 1 tbsp Butter
  3. Get 1 medium Yellow onion

  7. Take 1 lb Ground beef
  8. Make ready 28 oz Canned whole tomatoes
  9. Prepare 32 oz Canned kidney beans

It is so simple and has SO much flavor. Add chili powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, cayenne (if using), and season generously with salt and pepper. Pour in kidney beans and crushed tomatoes and bring chili to a boil. Being in Texas, chili is a staple on the few cold days we have each year.

Steps to make Chili:
  1. Combine butter and olive oil in a sauce pot over medium low.
  2. Slice onion and add to the pot. Stirring periodically, cook the onion to a very light caramel.
  3. Meanwhile, heat spices gently in a pan, just until fragrant, then grind finely and stir into caramelized onions to toast gently just before adding ground beef.
  4. Add ground beef. Stir over medium heat until browned.
  5. Add canned tomatoes. Simmer gently for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Drain and rinse kidney beans and add them to the pot. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and pepper and serve, ideally with a big chunk of fresh cornbread.

This is something I've come up with after years of trying to perfect an easy-to-make and delicious chili. This is a very spicy chili and the perfect meal for a chilly day. The beans are optional here as they traditionally aren't found in Texas chili.
